Inter-collegiate carnival held

SIVAGANGA: The Alagappa University, Karaikudi in association with Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society, Chennai organised inter-collegiate youth and cultural carnival at Karaikudi on Wednesday.
A. Shenbagavalli, Registrar-in-charge, who presided over the function, said the objective of the program was to take the message of awareness about AIDS and control there of to the society, especially the youth who were more vulnerable to this problem.
V. Palani, Consultant, Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS), said that the statistics on HIV and AIDS affected persons in Tamil Nadu showed that the trend was bit alarming unless steps were taken to remedy the situation.
