SKU teachers continue relay hunger strike

Staff Reporter

Anantapur: Srikrishnadevaraya University Teachers' Association (SKUTA) went on a relay hunger strike for the second day on Thursday in support of their demand for revision of pay scales for teachers.

CPI leaders Ramana and Jagadish visited the hunger strike camp and expressed their solidarity. They demanded immediate implementation of revised UGC pay scales and implementation of G.O. Ms.No.14.

Student organisations also supported the teachers' cause and participated in the relay hunger strike.

Meanwhile, SKU Employees and Students Welfare Association president K. Nagendra Reddy, in a statement, appealed to the university administration to take steps for the implementation of revised pay scales and put an end to unrest among the teachers. He hoped the government would react to the happenings on the campus.
