Minister Govind Karjol convenes meeting ‘Keep provision ready for the flood-affected' Bagalkot: Minor Irrigation and Bagalkot district in-charge Minister Govind Karjol has instructed the district administration to be prepared to tackle the situation arising out of possible floods in 121 villages in the district. Mr. Karjol was speaking at a meeting of the district-level officers here on Saturday. The meeting was convened to discuss the preparations that the authorities need to make for carrying out rescue operations in case of floods in the rivers. Mr. Karjol instructed the officers concerned to store large quantity of provision and kerosene in Jamkhandi, Mudhol, Badami and Hunagund taluks. The officers informed the Minister that there are only 40 out of 49 rescue boats in the district were in good condition. Nine boats would be repaired and all the boats would be kept ready to shift people to safer places in case of floods. As per the preliminary survey, 44 villages in Badami, two in Bagalkot, 37 villages in Hunagund, 27 villages in Jamkhandi and 11 villages in Mudhol taluk are likely to be flooded.
