Penganga receives heavy inflows
ADILABAD: Flooding of rivers continued to cause concern in Adilabad district on Saturday as the backwaters from a swollen Penganga river caused flooding of the Tativagu stream near Tonkini on Sirpur (T) mandal.
Road traffic between Sirpur and Koutala had to be closed due to overflow of water on the bridge that links the two mandals. Asifabad RDO A. Ailaiah told The Hindu that boats were arranged during the day for people to cross the river. The Penganga received heavy inflows because of the rainfall in Ballarshah in Maharashtra.
The river will swell further in case the rains continue.
