NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation organised a joyride for a group of over 100 children suffering from cancer on Saturday. The children along with their family members visited the Metro Museum at Patel Chowk metro station and also travelled on the metro. For some of them it was their first ride on a metro train. “These kids who hail from different parts of the country and are under treatment for cancer under the aegis of NGO CanKids spent over two hours on the Delhi Metro. The children, aged between 5 and 14 years, were shown around the Metro Museum where they got to know about one of the most modern metro systems in the world,” said a spokesperson. A train ride was arranged for them from Patel Chowk to Inderlok via Kashmere Gate so that they could get an experience of both underground and elevated metro sections. As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Delhi Metro has also built a shelter home near Tis Hazari for homeless children which is run by the Salaam Balak Trust.
