‘1,000 steel bus queue shelters to be ready soon'

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Delhi Transport Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said over the weekend that the Delhi Transport Corporation has started work of installation of 1,000 bus queue shelters (BQS) and the foundation of 80 per cent of them has already been laid.

By August-end

Mr. Lovely, who took a round of various Commonwealth Games-related project sites, said only steel structures would be erected with the foundation to commission the new designer bus queue shelters. “It would take around a month to complete the installation. The work of installation of the BQS, especially around the Games sites, would be completed by August 31,'' he added.

12 new CNG filling stations

The Transport Minister said 12 electronic CNG filling stations would also be started soon in the DTC Millennium Park Complex. He said while it normally takes 20 to 25 minutes to fill CNG in a DTC bus, at the ultra-modern electronic CNG stations it would take only 5 to 7 minutes to refuel it.

The Minister said that after commissioning the electronic CNG filling stations, the DTC would save time and make more trips.

Since this would also result in saving of manpower, he said the Corporation would be able to make more buses available to cater to the transportation needs of sportspersons and officials especially during the Games.
