MYSORE: To create a festive ambience on the occasion of Independence Day here, Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta has issued directions for the illumination of all important government buildings in the city on August 14 and 15. He has also appealed the citizens to voluntarily illuminate their homes and business establishments and decorate their premises with flowers to mark Independence Day. A kite-flying competition has been organised on August 15 to ensure larger participation from the public. Main event The public have been requested to participate in the main Independence Day function, which will be held at Chamundi Vihar Stadium at 9 a.m. The Deputy Commissioner has issued instructions making it mandatory for all government employees to attend the Independence Day celebrations.
