KFCC withdraws today's protest plan

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has withdrawn its decision to suspend all cinema-related activities on Monday.

The KFCC had planned to suspend its activities to protest against airing of a programme on Kannada cinema, the contents of which were said to be defamatory in nature, on July 16 by a private FM radio channel.

President of the KFCC Basanthkumar Patil told presspersons here on Sunday that the KFCC was constrained to withdraw its decision as 92.7 Big FM channel admitted to its lapses.

At a meeting held in the city on Saturday night, the Cluster Head (Karnataka and Kerala) of Reliance Broadcast Network Limited (92.7 Big FM), Sunil Kumaran, had “agreed to undertake some corrective measures though the damage caused cannot be undone,” Mr. Patil said.
