BANGALORE: Starting on Monday, select schools and colleges in the city will be pulsating with an eclectic mixture of various Indian dance, music and art forms as part of Virasat 2010. Hosted by SPIC MACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth), Bangalore chapter, Virasat 2010 seeks to take Indian art and culture to the student community by conducting programmes and interactive lec-dems at academic institutions. The series will feature five different art forms to be conducted over 60 days at 40 schools and colleges in and around the city, according to a press release. Inauguration Virasat 2010 is dedicated to Rabindranath Tagore to mark the beginning of his 150th birth anniversary. The event will be inaugurated by Governor H.R. Bhardwaj at KLE Society's S. Nijalingappa College in Rajajinagar at 11 a.m. on Monday. The list of artistes for this year's programmes includes Hindustani vocalist Pandit Ajay Pohankar, Rajasthani folk group led by Bundu Khan Langa, Kalakmari artiste Guruppa Chetty and Carnatic vocalist Mansi Prasad.
