Special Correspondent

VISAKHAPATNAM: Friendship Day revelry at Rushikonda Beach here came to a sad end in the evening with five second-year Intermediate students of NRI Academy, NAD Kotha Road Campus, meeting a watery grave in the sea on Sunday.

Eleven friends, who had a day out to celebrate the Friendship Day, went to the beach by 4 p.m. and ten of them went into the sea for a swim. Waves pulled seven students into the sea and five of them met a watery grave, while two students, children of Army employees, had a close shave with death.

Pothinamallayya Palem Circle Inspector Ch. Papa Rao said that the incident took place at about 4.30 p.m., but bodies could be traced only three hours later.
