BHUBANESWAR: City-based Orissa Samskruti Academy, an institution for promotion and documentation of Orissan culture, would present noted theatre personality Subodh Patnaik in its “aalap – a dialogue with the distinguished” series at the Orissa Modern Art Gallery here on August 22 . Academy chairperson Kedar Mishra said that ever since its establishment three years ago, exponents of various art traditions, cinema and literature are being invited periodically to ‘aalap' for an interaction with a select gathering who pursue a serious interest in the subject. Eminent writer Hara Prasad Das, Pondicherry-based noted Odissi dancer Sangeeta Dash and New Delhi-based prominent painter Jagannath Panda were some of such personalities invited for the series to share their experiences earlier, he added. Founder-director of the well-known theatre institution Natya Chetana near the capital, Subodh Patnaik is one of the very few theatre personalities of Orissa with international exposure and recognition, Mishra mentioned. He has toured across all the four continents presenting his plays, conducting workshops and addressing seminars, he said and added that Patnaik has also set up a theatre village named Natyagram and a theatre museum.
