Assumption, Jeppiaar in final

CHANGANASSERY: Host Assumption College will meet Chennai's Jeppiaar Engineering College in the basketball final of the Assumption College Diamond Jubilee all-India women's inter-collegiate tournaments here on Wednesday morning.

In volleyball, Assumption, SNM (Maliankara), Alphonsa (Pala) and St. Joseph's (Irinjalakuda) progressed to the semifinals.

The results: Basketball, semifinals: Assumption College, Changanassery 51 (Anju Mohan 15, Jincy Joseph 10) bt SN College, Kollam 49 (Kenny 13); Jeppiaar Engineering College, Chennai 65 (Amutha 12) bt St. Xavier's, Aluva 30 (Lisha 11).

Volleyball, quarterfinals: Assumption bt Vels University, Chennai 25-14, 25-18, 25-23; SNM, Maliankara bt SRM University, Chennai 16-25, 25-23, 26-24, 22-25, 15-12; Alphonsa, Pala bt St. Joseph's Engineering College, Chennai 21-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-20; St. Joseph's, Irinjalakuda w/o Panimalar Engineering College, Chennai .

2-1 win for Calicut

Calicut defeated Thrissur 3-1 in a South Zone SAI Hostel tournament match at the Football Stadium, Bangalore, on Tuesday.

The results: Calicut 3 (Verghese, Srimeth and Sujilal) bt Thrissur 1 (Grishith); Bangalore 1 (Rajkiran) drew with Kurnool 1 (Hassan Bhasha) .

Goalless draw

Jaihind FC, Puthenthope held AG's Office to a goalless draw in the Thiruvananthapuram district ‘B' division football league at the Medical College ground, Thiruvananthapuram, on Tuesday.

In the ‘E' division league, Medical College and Venus FC shared four goals as the match between the two sides ended in an exciting draw.

The Thiruvananthapuram district badminton association has announced the teams in the men, women and junior sections (under-19 and under-16).
