Five elementary schools to be set up

PUDUKOTTAI: The Education Department has sanctioned the setting up of five elementary schools to be started in the district during the current academic year.
In a release issued here on Monday, A. Suganthi, District Collector, said that the schools would be started in Pillaiyarpatti and Anna Nagar villages both in Ponnamaravathy union; Kunnavayal village in Pudukottai union; Idaiyankollai and Muthukuda villages in Avaudaiyarkovil union.
13 elementary schools upgraded
The Collector also said that the Education Department has also upgraded 13 elementary schools to middle schools. The upgrading would facilitate the pupils to continue their middle school education at the same institutions.
The following is the list of elementary schools that are to be upgraded to middle schools:
The government elementary schools in Piranthani; Keezhkudi; Kumulur; Paramandhur and Avanam Perungudi villages (all in Avudaiyarkovil union); Veppankudi and Tirukattalai villages (in Tiruvarangulam union); Vanaakankadu and Pudukottai Viduthi villages (Karambakudi union); Sirunangupatti village in Pudukottai union; Seralapatti village in Viralimalai union; T. Mettupatti village in Annavasal union; and Ponpudupatti village in Ponnamaravathy union.
