KOLAR: Eight persons, including seven members of a family from Mulbagal in Kolar district, were killed and seven others were injured when a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in which they were travelling collided with a lorry at Koram village in Kancheepuram district in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday night. All the victims belonged to Gundgal Venkatappa's family in Negavarahalli in Mulbagal taluk. Fourteen members of the family were a returning from a pilgrimage to the famous Subrahmanyaswamy temple in Thiruttani in Tamil Nadu when the accident occurred. The deceased have been identified as Rasanna (45), Shivappa (40), Janakiram (60), Roopa (25), Raniyamma (30), Savithri (60), Sandhya (6) and Nagaraj, the driver. Injured in hospital Tulasiram, Shantamma, Krishna, Sindhu, Ranjitha, Sushma and Jayatha, who were injured, have been admitted to the Government General Hospital in Chennai. A communication from the Kancheepuram District Collector's office to the Mulbagal tahsildar has confirmed the accident. Village mourns A pall of gloom descended on Negavarahalli village as the news about the tragedy spread. A shocked Venkatappa is not in a position to speak.
