Kudumbi meet on August 8

KOLLAM: The 47th State conference of the Kudumbi Seva Sanghom (KSS) will be held at the T.M. Memorial Hall here on August 8. The 34th State conference of the Kudumbi Mahila Seva Sanghom (KMSS) will also be held on the same day at the Swayamvara Kalyana Mandapam.

Labour Minister P.K. Gurudasan will inaugurate the KSS conference. KSS State president K.V. Bhaskaran will preside over the function. The KMSS conference will be inaugurated by the former MLA, J. Mercykutty.

At a press meet on Wednesday, KSS general secretary P.S. Ramachandran said the Kudumbis continued to be marginalised. He said the Central government should take immediate steps to declare the Kudumbi community as a Scheduled community. The State government had sent the required recommendation in this connection to the Centre, he said.

Five cents of land adjacent to the Kodungallur Sri Kurumba Bhagwati temple had been gifted to the community by one of the erstwhile Rajas of Kochi.Mr. Ramachandran wanted the government to allocate the land to the KSS with the required title deeds.
