LUCKNOW: The inaugural meeting of the newly-constituted State executive of the Bharatiya Janata Party will be held here on Saturday against the background of murmurings over its formation. The meeting, convened by the State unit president Surya Pratap Shahi, is likely to take stock of the political situation and formulate the strategy for the future. The BJP general secretary in charge of UP affairs, Narendra Singh Tomar, will attend the meeting. Resentment has been growing in the party since the executive committee was announced a couple of days back with some of the office-bearers unhappy with the posts given to them and reportedly refusing to take charge. Among them is the Ayodhya MLA Lalloo Singh who has been appointed the chairman of the Avadh region of the party. Mr. Singh, a former vice-president of the State unit, has refused to take up his new post, informed sources in the party said. Sources said Mr. Singh was angling for the post of general secretary in the new executive committee. Another former vice-president of the U.P. unit, Jai Prakash Chaturvedi, who has been appointed president of the Kashi region, too has refused to accept his new posting, sources said. Former chairman of U. P. Legislative Council, Kunwar Manvendra Singh, is said to be unhappy with his appointment as chairman of the Kanpur region of the party. Initially, two spokesmen and two assistant spokespersons were named, but following protest a total of five party spokesmen and two media in-charges were appointed.
