Agriculture Minister warns fertilizer dealers

HYDERABAD: Minister for Agriculture N. Raghuveera Reddy has directed the agriculture department officials to crack down on dealers found selling fertilizers and urea above maximum retail price (MRP).
Addressing a meeting of senior officials of the Agriculture Department here on Thursday, Mr. Raghuveera Reddy wanted close monitoring of the sale of fertilizers and urea by the mandal-level dealers. He warned the mandal-level agricultural officers of serious action if they were found wanting in initiating action against the erring fertilizer dealers. Mr. Reddy said the Agriculture Commissioner would shortly prepare an action plan for supply of fertilizers and urea to the districts. He was confidence that the State would achieve record foodgrain production of 209 lakh tonnes this year.
