Ration card printing facility opened in Tirupur

Tirupur: Collector C. Samayamoorthy inaugurated the decentralized printing of ration cards at the district level, here on Friday.

To facilitate the process, the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (ELCOT) had started a unit on the Collectorate premises that could print as many as 300 ration cards in a day.

“This scheme is aimed at avoiding delays in the issuance of ration cards, which till now, had got it printed at Coimbatore,” Mr. Samayamoorthy told The Hindu.

Under this new arrangement, the cards would be issued against all valid applications received at the taluk levels within a week.

Senior officials from revenue department and ELCOT, and District Public Relations Officer A Umaapathy were present.
