Two buses attached

KARUR: Officials from the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court attached two state transport corporation buses here on Thursday after the TNSTC failed to compensate accident victims as per the court orders.
Kubendran of Veluchamypuram here was hit and injured by a speeding Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus on the Kovai Road here on February 13, 2005.
The CJM court has awarded a compensation of Rs. 1.95 lakh to the victim. Since the corporation did not honour the award, Kubendran again moved court following which CJM Sarvamangala directed the TNSTC to pay Rs. 2.75 lakh to him in January last.
Similarly the court had directed the TNSTC to pay Kulandaisamy of Gandhipuram here an amount of Rs. 1.13 lakh as compensation and Rs. 85,000 as interest for delayed payment, for injuring the victim on June 16, 2006.
The Coimbatore and Madurai Divisions of the TNSTC were the defaulting parties in the two cases.
It was in these circumstances that the court ordered attachment of the buses.
Following this two buses that came to the Karur bus stand on Thursday were impounded by the officials and taken to the court premises.
