No intrusion attempt reported in Thanjavur and Pudukottai

Special Correspondent

PUDUKOTTAI: No attempt was made by any ‘intruder' to enter the Thanjavur and Pudukottai districts during the course of the 48-hour ‘Operation Hamla', a mock security and anti-terror drill conducted jointly by the State Police, Coast Guard, Coastal Security Group and Navy personnel.

Talking to ‘The Hindu' over phone on the operation, S.Amsavalli, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Coastal Security Group, Pattukottai, said a strict and joint vigil by the state and coastal police personnel had gone a long way in keeping the ‘intruders' away from entering into Thanjavur and Pudukottai districts. She said the marine police personnel attached to the stations in Sethubavachathiram and Adhiramapattinam (both in Thanjavur district) and Manalmelkudi and Tiruppunavasal (both in Pudukottai district) had kept a close vigil.

The surveillance was maintained on land routes by K.A..Senthilvelan and P.Moorthy, Superintendents of Police, Thanjavur and Pudukottai districts respectively, she added.
