Aid distributed

Tirupur: Minister for Highways and Minor Ports M.P. Saminathan on Wednesday handed over assistance to eight families at Sinthamaniputhur whose huts were destroyed in fire recently.

Official sources told reporters that each of the relief package contained Rs. 2,000 cash, 5 kg of rice, three litres of kerosene, a sari and a dhoti.

The huts along with a shop were gutted in the fire that broke out from the kitchen in one of the dwellings.

Collector C. Samayamoorthy and Mayor K. Selvaraj were present.
