Demonstration staged
Tirupur: The Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Association staged a demonstration here on Friday to press their demand for allowing Union Ministers to speak in regional languages during Parliament session.
Association district secretary R. Eswaran said at present only MPs were allowed to speak in regional languages whereas the Union Ministers should speak only in English.
“This is unfair considering that speeches of Union Ministers in regional languages could be translated into other languages,” he added. The other demand was the need to recognise Tamil as the official language in Madras High Court.
