Mullappally lays stress on slum-eradication schemes

Kasaragod: The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre has initiated comprehensive programmes to eradicate slums across the country, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran has said.

Keys handed over

He was speaking after handing over the keys of the 175th house built for the poor by Sairam Gopalakrishna Bhat, social worker, at a function at Kalinjhar at Seethangoli, near Kumbala, on Saturday. Mr. Ramachandran also distributed sewing machines donated to women from the poor sections.

C.T. Ahmed Ali, MLA, and K. Veluthambu, president of the District Congress Committee, attended the function.
