Plea to revive Sethu project

boon:Members of Democratic Youth Federation of India taking out a rally in Tuticorin on Saturday.

Tuticorin: Members of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) took out a rally here on Saturday demanding that Sethu Samudram Shipping Channel project be revived.

The cadres felt that the massive project would generate huge employment opportunities for the unemployed youth.

Moreover, it would boost commercial and trade activities in the regionAppropriate measures should be taken to sort out the issue of drinking water scarcity in the suburbs of Tuticorin, they said.

The rally, taken out on the sidelines of the eighth district-level conference of DYFI, started from Rajaji Park, passed through Chidambaram Nagar and ended at Seventh Street of Bryant Nagar in the town.

S.G. Ramesh Babu, State president, inaugurated it.

Shanmugaraj, district president, and Jothi Basu, district treasurer, led the rally.
