Applications invited from private candidates

TIRUCHI: The Directorate of Government Examinations has invited applications from private candidates who wish to appear for the standard VIII public examinations to be held in December 2010.

Candidates above the age of twelve-and-a-half years can appear for the examination. There would no minimum educational qualification. Private candidates who have failed in the exams conducted between February 1980 and December 2009 can take the exams.

Students who have dropped out of schools from standards below VIII can also appear for the exam as private candidates, said S.Bhavani, Regional Deputy Director of Examinations, Tiruchi, in a press release.

Candidates from Tiruchi Pudukottai, Karur, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts can obtained the application forms, free of cost, from the office of the Regional Deputy Director of Government Examinations, No.1 A Arabic College Street, Khaja Nagar, Tiruchi, between August 9 and 27. Those who wish to get the application forms by post should send in a self-addressed envelope affixed with postal stamps for Rs.10.

Applicants should pay Rs.125 towards the exam fee at the government Treasuries. Filled-in applications should be submitted to the office on or before August 27. Applications should be accompanied by copies of birth certificates of the candidates and two self-addressed envelopes, one with postal stamp for Rs.5 and the other with postal stamp for Rs.22, the release said.

Results

Results of the SSLC, OSLC, Matric and Anglo-Indian special supplementary examinations held in June-July 2010 would be published online on August 9, Ms.Bhavani said in another release.

Candidates can receive the certificates in person on August 13, 14 and 16 at the centres, where they appeared for the examinations.

Applications for re-totalling of marks can be obtained from August 10 to 12 in all the District Educational Offices and the office of the Regional Deputy Director of Government Examinations in Tiruchi. Filled-in applications should be submitted at any of these offices.

The last date for submitting the filled-in applications is August 12. Candidates applying for re-totalling should pay Rs.305 for subjects with two papers and Rs.205 for subjects with single paper. The fees should be paid in the government Treasuries.
