Manthani gets engineering college

JNTU-Hyderabad, Singareni sign MoU to set up new college


Apart from regular B.Tech courses mining engineering, mining machinery will be offered

About 300 seats will be available; 15 seats earmarked for children of Singareni staff


Hyderabad: A long cherished dream of the government to sett up an engineering college in Karimnagar district finally took shape with JNTU-Hyderabad and Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to start a college at Manthani.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Minister for Higher Education D. Sridhar Babu and Minister for Technical Education Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao.

The college, which will be functional from this academic year, will offer regular B.Tech courses apart from courses in mining engineering and mining machinery. Admissions will be based on EAMCET and about 300 seats will be available in various streams. An additional 15 supernumerary seats have been earmarked exclusively for children of SCCL employees.

Mr. Sridhar Babu said that the college will start functioning from September 15 from a temporary accommodation provided by SSCL at Godavarikhani .

He said the government will sanction 68 teaching and 160 non-teaching posts in the first phase of the total requirement of 120 teaching and 267 non-teaching posts.
