Lokayukta makes huge haul of textbooks

Unused:Thousands of textbooks were found gathering dust at the Government Printing Press godown

GULBARGA: The Lokayukta police seized thousands of textbooks for the current academic year and previous academic years from the godowns of the Government Printing Press during a raid here on Monday.

Superintendent of Police (Lokayukta) B.N. Neelgar said, “We have found lakhs of text books gathering dust in the godown… It will take at least 24 hours to manually count all the books and separate the new and old textbooks.” The raid comes at a time when almost all government and private schools in the district are facing severe shortage of textbooks supplied by the Government.
