Some 44 villages have been affected in the district Flood victims being given 10 kg rice each KAKINADA: Joint Collector K. Sasidhar on Monday asked Tehasildars and other officials to take steps to prevent the spread of diseases in the flood-affected areas. Addressing a tele-conference with the officials here, Mr. Sasidhar said that there was every possibility of spreading of diseases in the areas that were marooned during floods. “Besides taking care of the flood victims, you must also focus on maintaining sanitation in residential areas,” Mr. Sasidhar told the officials. He asked the officials of revenue and irrigation departments to take steps to guard the bund of the river Godavari round the clock to prevent any occurrence of breaches to it. Referring to the statistics, Mr. Sasidhar said that so far 44 villages in the district got affected by the floods and 12,850 people of 4,321 families were being shifted to 71 relief camps. He said that 112 were fully and 140 partially damaged. As many as 31 villages of Devipatnam mandal were under water and the district administration was supplying 10 kg of rice each to the families of flood victims. Rainfall Meanwhile, the district registered 106.4 mm rainfall during the day. Razole mandal registered the highest rainfall of 16 mm, while Eleswaram registered the lowest rainfall of 1 mm.
