Load-shedding again in some districts

Staff Reporter

BERHAMPUR: Despite the recent rains drastic load-shedding due to alleged power shortage has returned to south Orissa including Berhampur city. Since Monday evening load shedding had been resorted to without prior notice to consumers. Some areas of the city experienced two-hour power-cut at an interval of two hours.

Vice-president of Southco Tapan Mishra said they could not inform the consumers of the power-cut as the Orissa Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. was not making any official communiqué regarding the fall in power supply.

Deputy General Manager of OPTCL Prafulla Kumar Das said they had to reduce power supply to consumers as generation of hydro-power projects in south Orissa was low due to low water level in reservoirs.
