Regional Sports Meet begins

BANGALORE: The Regional Sports Meet for students of ICSE schools in Karnataka began with athletic competitions in the city on Tuesday.

Organised by Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate (ASISC), Karnataka, 37 ICSE schools from across the State are participating in the meet, which continue on 4 with the basketball competition on August 14 and swimming event on August 16 at the Jayanagar Corporation Stadium and the Jayanagar Swimming Pool respectively. Sharada Prasad, president of ASISC (Karnataka) and Principal of Sri Vani Public School, Bangalore, told reporters here that the winners of various events at the Regional Sports Meet will represent Karnataka at the National Sports Meet to be held in Jamshedpur during October and November.

“A few competitions of the Regional Sports Meet like painting, quiz, debates, declamation and creative writing have been held at the various schools,” he said.
