Fine all-round show by Ramesh

HYDERABAD: Fine all-round show by S. Ramesh, who scored an unbeaten 99 and then claimed four for 46, helped SA Amberpet record an emphatic, 218-run win over Osmania in the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship here on Thursday.

The scores: A-Division (two-day) league: SA Amberpet 353 for six (S Ramesh 99 not out, Shoaib 54) bt Osmania 135 (Yashwanth 37, S. Ramesh four for 46, Hemant Bharadwaj four for three).

Khalsa 131 lost to Syndicate Bank 135 for four (Syed Ali 52 not out, Ravi 32 not out).

Continental 160 lost to Galaxy 164 for seven (Avinash Reddy 43, R. Sarvajith 59 not out).

Jai Bhagwathi 162 (Santosh Jayachandra 47, Raju three for 25, Sami Ansari four for 24) lost to Sultanshahi 163 for seven (Satya Reddy 49).

Pranay, Sai shine

Cricket tournament

The All India Charminar Gold Cup for boys in the age groups of under-14, 17 and 19 years will be held from September 22 to October 2 in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mysore, Kurnool and Rajasthan. For details call 32486820.

K. Prabhath won the 21st YMCA Greater Hyderabad Open chess tournament for boys and girls (under-12) with five points at the end of final round.

Bhavan's enters final

Bhavan's Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya and Swaminarayan Gurukul entered the final of the CCOB Cup inter-school basketball tournament at City College.

In the semifinals on Thursday, Bhavan's defeated St. Paul's School ‘A' 51-44 while Swaminarayan Gurukul got the better off Kendriya Vidyalaya (NPA) 49-39.

The scores: Bhavan's 51 (Akshay 22) bt St. Paul's ‘A' 44 (Junaid 16, Santosh 10); Swaminarayan Gurukul 49 (Aditya Raj 12, Mihir 10, David 10) bt KV NPA 39 (Praveen Kumar 18) .

Khizar Raoof in final

Andhra Pradesh No. 1 Khizar Raoof defeated Khaleel 56-24, 47-53, 61-53, 40-41, 59-53, 54-39 in the first semifinal of the Deccan Club Open snooker tournament here.
