Chennai: Left-arm spinner V. Arun Kumar ran through Falcon CC's batting to return figures of eight for 48 and propel Grand Slam to a 141-run victory in round seven of the TNCA first division league here on Thursday. Arun Kumar had scalped five wickets in Falcon's first innings. Starting day three at 97 for six in its second innings, Grand Slam declared at 170 for nine, setting Falcon 241 for victory. Off spinner A.K. Balachander was Falcon's most impressive bowler, taking six wickets for 55. Falcon's chase lasted only 46.2 overs, and got it to its eventual total of 89 thanks to a 46-run stand for the eighth wicket between Sreekumar Nair (35) and M. Vijay Bharat Ram (31). Arun Kumar's eight wickets took his match tally to 13 and his season total to 35. Meanwhile, Aruna CC got the better of a tight encounter against Parry's, winning by 14 runs after the day began with Parry's needing 18 to win with the last pair at the crease. Leg spinner M.P. Rajesh, who bagged five wickets in the first innings, bowled number 11 Senthil Kumar with the fifth ball of the morning. Trotters avoids defeat Globe Trotters batsmen Y. Asia road racing The fourth round of the Petronas Asia Road Racing Championship will kick start at the Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) in Irungattukottai here on August 20. Marking the midpoint of the championship, the fourth round will see an intense battle for supremacy in the Underbone 115 cc and SuperSports 600 cc categories.
