Chalkida (Greece): Indian Grandmaster J. Deepan Chakkravarthy held his more famous compatriot GM Surya Shekhar Ganguly to a hard-fought draw in the third round of the first Negroponte International open chess tournament here. After the end of the third round of this € 25,000 prize money tournament, as many as 12 players share the lead with a perfect score of three points out of a possible three. The results (involving Indians, third round): J. Deepan Chakkravarthy (2.5) drew with Surya Shekhar Ganguly (2.5); Zaven Andriasian (Arm, 3) bt M. Shyam Sundar (2); Vishnu Prasanna (2.5) drew with Ghaem Maghami Ehsan (Iri, 2.5). Sandipan Chanda (2.5) bt Nikolaidis Konstantinos (Gre, 1.5); Abhijeet Gupta (2.5) bt Ioannis Stavrianakis (Gre, 1.5); Norman Schuetze (Ger, 1.5) lost to D. Harika (2.5); Tania Sachdev (1.5) lost to Dimitros Kosmas-Lekkas (Gre, 2.5); Vaibhav Suri (2) bt Theodoros Sideris (Gre, 1); Sahaj Grover (2) bt Dimitros Vazelakis (Gre, 1).
