Deadline set for issuing work orders

VILLUPURAM: Director of town panchayats T. Rajendran has set a deadline for four town panchayats in Villupuram district to issue work orders under the Anaithu Town Panchayats Anna Marumalarchi Thittam.
Addressing officials here on Friday, Mr. Rajendran said that the scheme was being implemented in the town panchayats of Ginjee, Thirukkoilur, Thiagadurgam and Ulundurpet during 2010-11.
The work orders for all projects ought to be issued before August 22.
The local bodies should implement the solid waste management project and produce fertilizer out of it.
They should also concentrate on collection of tax and non-tax levy without delay.
Training in
employable skills
Mr. Rajendran said that under the Swarna Jayanthi scheme, youth should be trained in employable skills and private and group loans given to them.
He underscored the point that town panchayats should take up all works with the concurrence of the district administration.
Collector R. Palanisamy, assistant director (town panchayat) Sadayappan and Assistant Executive Engineer A. Murugan were present.
