Collector allays farmers' fears over supply of fertilizers

KHAMMAM: About 1.13 lakh tonnes of urea and various other complex fertilizers have been disbursed to farmers so far in the Kharif season in the district, said Collector N Nageswara Rao on Saturday.

The Collector inaugurated a fertilizers sale point of the District Cooperative Marketing Society (DCMS) at the agriculture market yard in the town.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the total requirement of fertilizers for the farmers of the district in the entire Kharif season was estimated at two lakh tonnes.

Allaying the fears of the farmers over the timely supply of fertilizers, he said the quota of fertilizers allotted to the district would arrive in time.

The farmers need not have any kind of doubts in this regard, he assured and underscored the need for systematic disbursal of the fertilizers by the public sector organizations.

He advised the farmers to obtain bills from the private dealers for the purchase of fertilizers and pesticides if any from the latter.

DCMS Chairman K Ramachandra Murthy said the sale point was established at the agriculture market yard to make the adequate quantity of fertilizers available for the farmers. He called upon the farmers to make optimum use of the facility.

Later, the Collector inspected the fertilizers godown and enquired about the stock position with the staff concerned.

Marketing Department assistant director Padmavati, Agriculture Department deputy director Narasimha Rao, market committee chairman Ramakrishna and others were present.
