HYDERABAD: Former Vice-Chancellor of Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University I.V. Subba Rao (75) died on Saturday morning due to cancer. The end came at Indo-American Cancer Hospital here where he was undergoing treatment. He served as Vice-Chancellor of the university for two terms and was conferred Padmashri in 2002. It was during his tenure that the proposals by the university to host the Indian Science Congress were initiated. The university became the first agricultural university in the country to organise the prestigious event. He was the director of research at the university before taking over as the Vice-Chancellor. Chief Minister K. Rosaiah said in a condolence message that Subba Rao was one of the topmost agricultural scientists in the country and his contribution to the development of agriculture was valuable. Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu and former MP Y. Sivaji also condoled his death.
