KOLLAM: A high-level police meeting here on Saturday decided to help the Karnataka police execute the arrest warrant against People's Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasir Maudany, after Sunday afternoon. An accused in the Bangalore serial blasts case, he has moved the Supreme Court seeking anticipatory bail. The police have already brought the entire Anwarssery area here under their control. An uneasy calm prevails in the Anwarssery camp of Mr. Maudany. The meeting, which lasted more than 90 minutes, was called to work out a strategy for enabling the Karnataka police to execute the warrant without posing much of a law and order problem for the Kerala police. The police want Independence Day parades to pass off unhindered. Though details of the meeting are not known, police sources said a decision was taken not to loosen the police grip on Anwarssery until the warrant was executed. But uncertainty continues over the time of arrest. The sources said S.N. Siddaramappa, Deputy Commissioner (Crime), Bangalore, was expected to arrive here on Sunday. As the investigating officer of the serial blasts case, he is the competent authority to execute the warrant. Though a Bangalore police team led by circle inspector N.H. Siddappa, already camping here, can produce an authorisation letter for executing the warrant, Mr. Maudany can raise objections and block the arrest. That can lead to use of force.
