7,408 schools to get water purifying systems soon

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: His Grace, a charitable organisation under the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, is launching a project to install water purification systems in schools across the State.

The organisation is planning to cover all government, aided and unaided schools in the State through this ambitious project.

Inauguration

Education Minister M.A. Baby will inaugurate the State-level project at a function to be held at Fort Sathram Upper Primary School at Manacaud on August 17.

“We will be installing this water purification system in around 7,408 schools in Kerala. The system basically consists of a water purifier system and a tank with taps attached to it. The capacity of the tank and the system will depend on the student strength of the school,'' said Fr. Deekan Jijomon of His Grace.

He said that the service would be rendered entirely free to the schools.

“Apart from the small space required to install the system, the schools do not have to contribute anything else from their side for installing this system,'' he said.

He said that the newly formed organisation decided to launch this project keeping in view the health and wellbeing of the future generation.
