Noted academician passes away

HYDERABAD: Reputed academician P. Koteswara Rao, former head, dean and Chairman of Board of Studies, Faculty of Law, Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati, passed away after brief illness in Hyderabad on Friday last.
He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
He was 77.
Dr. Rao was a pioneer in introducing several innovative academic programmes in legal education and was responsible for introducing research methodology as a mandatory subject.
Prof. Rao professed the need of semester system, internal assessment, field work in LL.M courses and had introduced free legal clinic and several new subjects which were quite useful for the students.
Prof. Rao was a member of the UGC curriculum development center in law and UGC panel on law.
He was elected as governing council member of Indian law Institute, New Delhi.
He has taught constitutional law, international law, legal theory, human rights, social transformation and law, poverty and development for 44 years.

NALSAR University of Law Vice-Chancellor Prof. Veer Singh, Registrar Dr. K.V.S. Sarma and Prof. Madabhushi Sridhar, coordinator of Media Law and Policy Studies condoled him.
