Junior badminton meet

KOLKATA: The 73rd junior State badminton championship will be held at Durgabari Club from Wednesday. The four-day championship will have seven events in junior boys' and girls' singles, sub-junior boys' and girls' singles, mini boys' and girls' singles and junior boys' doubles.

Pallab Bose, last year's sub-junior champion, will be the top seed in the junior boys' section. Ranajoy Das will be seed No. 2. Reigning girls' champion Sheshadri Sanyal will retain the pride of place in the junior section while Sanchali Dasgupta will be No. 2.

Shouvik Ghosh and Subhrajit Pal are the two seeds in the sub-junior boys' section. Sanchali Dasgupta and Rupsha Ghosh will head the sub-junior girls' seeding.

Arintop Dasgupta will be No. 1 in the mini boys' section while Nilotpal Acharjee will be No. 2. Ria Mookherjee and Anannya E. Tigga will be the two seeds in the mini girls group.

The top four in the junior section and the top two in the sub-junior section will qualify to represent Bengal in the November junior Nationals. – Special Correspondent
