He said the Left Democratic Front government had implemented development projects worth Rs.35 crore in the Vadakara Assembly constituency in the past four years. Nearly Rs.500 crore of development activities had been carried out in the district.

The complex has been aimed at bringing all the electricity offices in the Vadakara region under one roof. The total area of the three-storey Vydyuti Bhavan is 1,513 sq m. It also has a basement.

Till now the offices of the electrical circle, sub regional store, regional audit office, electrical sub division, electrical division, meter testing, transformer repairing unit, electrical section Vadakara north, transmission division and sub station sub division functioned at a rented building.

KSEB officials said there was a proposal to construct two more floors. Two suites and four rooms each having 450 sq m have been planned for the proposed two-storey Inspection Bungalow. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.67 lakh.

M.L. Premnath, MLA, presided over the function. KSEB Deputy Chief Engineer (Civil Construction) Philip Zacharia presented a report. Vadakara municipal chairman T.P. Chandran, Azhiyoor grama panchayat president P. Sreedharan, and Choorodu grama panchayat president K.S. Premakumari spoke.
