Kageri launches green wall project

Karwar: The Coastal Green Wall Project, an integrated coastal ecosystem restoration and biodiversity conservation-based sustainable programme, was inaugurated here on Sunday by Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, district in-charge Minister. Saplings were planted on the beach as part of the programme. Speaking at a function at the Science Centre, Mr. Kageri said the 298-km coastline of Karnataka faced threats from sea erosion, encroachment, and unscientific urbanisation and development projects. To mitigate these problems, the State Government had launched the Coastal Green Wall Project.
