VPT sets record in discharging steel coils
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Port of Visakhapatnam has established an all-time record in unloading of hot rolled steel coils on a single day.
A quantity of 5,958 tonne of hot rolled steel coils was discharged on Saturday from merchant vessel Thor Sun at WQ-3 surpassing the previous best discharge of 5,360 tonne on steel cargo on July 28, 2009 from m.v. S. Venus.
The cargo was imported by PSL Limited. Srivalli Shipping and Transport were the stevedores. Navship Marine Services Pvt. Ltd. was the steamer agents for the vessel, a port release said on Monday.
