MUMBAI: Laxman Dubey, master of MV Khalijia III — one of the two vessels involved in the accident off the Mumbai coast — moved an application for anticipatory bail on Monday. Chief Public Prosecutor R.V. Kini told TheHindu over telephone that the application would be heard on Tuesday.
Mr. Dubey — along with Ranjit Martin, captain of the other ship, the MSC Chitra — has been booked under IPC Sections 280 (rash navigation) and 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and Sections 7, 8 and 9 of the Environment Protection Act pertaining to the prevention, control and abatement of environmental pollution.
