Corrections and Clarifications

* * The report under the heading, “Honour for artists” (Friday Review supplement, Chennai, August 13, 2010), said the Sangeetha Kala Acharya award was presented to Dr. Radha Venkatachalam. It should have been Aacharya Choodamani award.

* * The Sunday Magazine supplement (August 15, 2010) carried the picture of Sharmila Tagore in the article “The best and worst of Indian democracy.” The caption described her as an ‘Actor and MP.' She is not a Member of Parliament.

* * The news report, “Madras High Court declines to interfere with ICAI's impugned order,” (August 15, 2010) referred to Section 494 (marrying again during lifetime of husband or wife). It should have been Section 494 Indian Penal Code.

* * The news report, “Aligarh violence rocks Parliament” (August 17, 2010) talked about repression against farmers who were up in arms against land acquisition for the Yamuna Express. It should have been Yamuna Express way.

* * The news report, “Murder case against Gujarat ADGP for 1984 encounter,” (August 12, 2010) referred to the “arrest of 15 police officials and Amit Shah, now Gujarat's Minister of State for Home.” Mr. Shah had resigned as minister before his arrest.

* * *
