Rights Day observed

KAKINADA: As part of the week-long celebrations of the second anniversary of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University -Kakinada (JNTUK), ‘Rights Day' was observed on Tuesday.
Vice-Chancellor of the National Law School of India University R. Venkata Rao and president of the Progressive Organisation for Women (POW) V. Sandhya, who were the guests of the function, stressed the need for creating awareness among the public about human rights. They observed that many educated people were unaware of their rights.
JNTUK Vice-Chancellor Allam Appa Rao, who was the chief guest, explained various types of rights.
Quoting the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), Prof. Appa Rao said that all human beings were born free and equal in dignity and rights.
“They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood,” he said.
