Works in flood-hit areas reviewed
Staff Reporter
KAKINADA: Joint Collector K. Sasidhar on Tuesday asked tehasildars to complete the distribution of rice and kerosene meant for the flood victims at the earliest and submit the coupons at the Collectorate.
Addressing a tele-conference with the officials of all the 22 mandals that were affected by the recent floods, Mr. Sasidhar said that as part of the rehabilitation package, the government announced free distribution of 20 kg of rice and five litres of kerosene each to all the flood-affected families.
He said that the dealers of the fair-price shops could divert the PDS kerosene for the rehabilitation package so that there would not be any delay in extending help to the flood victims. He asked the officials to arrange special counters if necessary to distribute rice and kerosene. After reviewing the functioning of medical teams in the flood-affected areas and upkeep of sanitation, Mr. Sasidhar stressed the need for chlorination of all wells.
