Medical vans of the trust touring villages Some 12,000 patients have so far been treated VIZIANAGARAM: Telugu Desam Polit Bureau member and MLA P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju has said that keeping in view the inadequate medical facilities in the State, the party decided to extend the facility through NTR Trust. As part of its decision, six mobile medical vans with a team of doctors have been visiting villages and treating patients. Mr. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, who inaugurated a medical camp at Dasannapeta in the town, said that there was no politics in its gesture and asked people notwithstanding party affiliation to utilise the opportunity. Later, at a press conference in the evening, party State health committee member Sobha Hymavathi said that the medical vans had so far covered Parvathipuram, Salur, Kurupam and Bobbili constituencies and treated over 12,000 patients during the last five days and distributed medicines to them free of cost. Health budget She said that the government hospitals lacked about 40 per cent of doctors for the last three years and the government had been reducing budget on health every year to the tune of Rs. 250-300 crores but at the same time releasing Rs.1000 crores to corporate hospitals in the name of Arogya Sri. The three Ministers appointed after trifurcation of medical and health wing do not have coordination, she lamented. Ms. Hymavathi said that the mobile medical vans would tour all villages in every district for five days and offer services. Response from people was encouraging, she added. TDP leaders D.V.G. Shankar Rao, Y. Ramana Murty, I.V.P. Raju, Prasadula Ramakrishna, K.A. Naidu and others were present.
