10,000 more to join police in two years

Staff Reporter

Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

MALAPPURAM: Minister for Home Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said here on Tuesday that 10,000 more personnel would be recruited to the State police. The recruitment would be made keeping in mind the vacancies that may arise till 2012, he said, claiming that the State government had effected historic changes in the Police Department since it assumed power four years ago.

Speaking after inspecting a passing-out parade of Malabar Special Police trainees at the MSP Grounds here, Mr. Balakrishnan said that no constable would now have to attain pension in the same post. He said a police constable joining the service would retire at least in the post of a sub-inspector.

Mr. Balakrishnan said the State made history by appointing the most number of police personnel.
