HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) Vice-Chairman P. Jayaprakash Rao will be the new Chairman of APSCHE with the present Chairman K.C. Reddy's term expiring on Tuesday. The State government issued orders on Tuesday stating that Prof. Jayaprakash Rao will hold office of the Chairman until further orders. Speaking to reporters, the outgoing Chairman, Prof. Reddy said he had a satisfying term and was leaving it in the “safe hands” of Prof. Rao. He thanked former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and all the former and present Ministers concerned with education for their active support. Prof. Rao lauded the contribution of Prof. Reddy to education sector in the most critical period when education was expanding rapidly. “His leadership qualities and professionalism have left a mark and we will take his initiatives forward,” he said. Prof. Rao said accountability of Vice-Chancellors and teachers was his top priority apart from focussing on teaching, research and evaluation methods.
